Feminist Synth Lab
Visual Identity, Installation, Coding
The Feminist Synth Lab is a co-learning space and music equipment lending library based in Los Angeles, prioritizing providing support to marginalized folx with the goal of making electronic music more accessible. Just like sound itself, the system can modulate and be active—expanding and condensing.

The typographic system is based on three basic waveforms: the sine, square, and saw wave.
During my research, I learned about so many people who aren’t prominently talked about within electronic music history. The poster series, “Alternate Histories,” strives to center and celebrate them and their contributions.
A collaborative installation using code, three synthesizers, and a mixer invites participation. It takes the sound the user makes along with sampled typography, images, and live video to create a feedback loop. The visual imagery reacts to the sounds generated.
Footnotes is a biannual publication that allows for deeper discussions with the music community. A font library is developed for the organization that can be integrated to allow for variety and flexibility.
